Due to some personal issues, I got sidetracked and couldn’t work on this blog post on time; but a heartfelt thanks to my lovely family and especially my mother who is so supportive and always so patient in helping me get through some moments of despair and distress (I’m not the one who talks about personal issues publicly, but this one definitely deserves a separate post).
Anyway, so in my previous post on Current Set of Face Mists and Toners – Part I, I reviewed 4 out of 8 face mists from my current collection. And in this post, I’ll review the other 4 face mists and toners.
JORDAN SAMUEL HYDRATE FACE MIST
I was fortunate that I got the opportunity to try JSS products last year during my vacation to the US. Jordan Samuel Skin products are so special and it’s one of my favorite skincare brands. Everything about JSS line is outright genuine, simple, effective, and just so elegant.
JSS was founded by Jordan Samuel who’s a ballet dancer turned esthetician. Inspired by the healthy lifestyle and nutritive choices of ballet dancers, each product is formulated using ingredients that are as healthy on the outside as they are on the inside. From CoQ10 and Vitamin C ester to cranberry seed oil and various amino acids, Jordan’s ingredients make up a comprehensive and nutritious skincare program that could just as easily be seen as part of an anti-inflammatory diet.
Hydrate Mist is the liquid-y version of the JSS Hydrate Facial serum. It’s a super hydrating that also offers antioxidant properties. Hydrate mist contains red seaweed along with the powerful hydration team (akin to the Hydrate serum) of hyaluronic acid, cucumber, tamarind, passion-flower and organic glycerin. It forms a perfect team with the JSS Hydrate serum. When I use Hydrate mist with the Hydrate serum, my skin just drinks them up like they are some sort of skin tonic (which actually they’re) and then I just don’t feel the need to apply anything else. I have also used Hydrate mist to soothe my skin after a long walk in the sun and on my sunburns; it offers such a calming and a soothing effect to my skin.
Ingredients: Water/Aqua/Eau, Glycerin, Betaine, Propanediol, Chondrus Crispus Extract, Lithothamnion Calcareum Extract, Hyaluronic Acid, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Punica Granatum Fruit Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Panthenol, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Passiflora Incarnata Extract, Disodium Edta, Butylene Glycol, Tamarindus Indica Fruit Extract, Sodium Hydroxide, Caprylhydroxamic Acid
LIVE BOTANICAL AER FRESH COMPLEXION TONING ELIXIR
Live Botanical is a beautiful herbal based skincare line from Portland, Oregon, founded by Carolyn McRory. Whole plant infusions, botanical extracts, and unrefined oils, waxes and butters are at the core of every product. I fell in love with the brand after I tried their products. Each product creates a distinct impression. The feel of the textures, the aroma, the unique blend of ingredients; in fact the entire ritual offers a wonderful indulgence.
The first thing that comes to my mind while describing this toner is “refreshing, calming, and oh, so soothing.” This elixir is specifically formulated for oily skin and also helps in controlling stubborn breakouts.
Because of its cooling and calming effect, I personally love using this elixir in summers. And if I’m dealing with sporadic breakouts, I spritz it two to three times a day. AER Fresh Complexion toner contains a beautiful blend of ginger and spearmint hydrosol (distilled in copper vessels) that invigorates the senses and soothes and hydrates the skin. This elixir is specially formulated with herbs (Aspen, Licorice and Burdock) that mildly exfoliate, help in reducing inflammation and speed up the recovery cycle of breakouts. Aspen in particular is quite effective as it is a natural form of exfoliating salicylic acid that control acne causing bacteria.
Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis juice*, Distilled water, Mentha spicata (spearmint) hydrosol*, Zingiber officinale (Ginger) hydrosol*, Populus tremuloides (aspen) extract*, Lactobacillus Ferment, Vegetable glycerin*, Glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice) root extract*, and Arctium lappa (Burdock) root extract*
OY-L HYDRATING FACE MIST
OY-L skincare is an independent line of 100% natural luxury skin care products with original, plant-derived formulations founded by Andrea-Pierce Naymon who firmly believes in the mission to fight toxins, protect families and empower beauty.
OY-L Hydrating Face Mist is a gentle, refreshing and a hydrating face mist with very simple list of ingredients. It’s made with rose hydrosol, aloe vera juice, witch hazel (alcohol free), Abyssinian oil, lavender oil, prickly pear oil, pink Himalayan salt sole, and radish root ferment filtrate. That’s all.
Personally, I love skincare products that are made with simple ingredients and are still quite effective in delivering results. I enjoyed this hydrating face mist quite a lot. (There’s barely a spritz or two left in this bottle, I suppose.) Since I received a travel size (2 oz), I specifically kept it aside for traveling purpose. And every time I used it, my skin felt hydrated and well-balanced the entire day. On few occasions, I also used it as a hydrating hydrosol with powdered face masks and simply loved the results.
KHUS+KHUS DETOX HYDROLAT
KHUS+KHUS Modern Herbal Fusion is a botanical, holistic herbal skincare line founded by Kristi Blustein (a pundit in yoga, ayurvedic science, and plant medicine). Kristi’s unconventional interpretation of plant medicine led her to create KHUS+KHUS, a unified, holistic line of hybrid philosophies, rooted in the fundamental belief that botanicals work within the body through the bloodstream and nervous system to deliver specific results, as well as broad benefits. Unique plant combinations are Kristi’s signature, resulting in aromatic and textural profiles that are completely her own.
Detox Hydrolat contains a unique botanical blend of french violet, patchouli, white grapefruit, rock rose, witch hazel, and rock rose floral water. With such effective ingredients that offer antiseptic, toning, and moisturizing benefits to the skin, this mist works brilliantly on inflamed skin conditions. The first thing I noticed was how cooling and soothing it felt on my skin. I also experience slight tightening effect with this toner; probably because of its anti-wrinkle treatment properties. I have to admit I didn’t like its fragrance initially; but it has eventually grown on me now. And I especially love the combination of the Detox hydrolat with the Detox serum; and how they work together on my skin.
