OKOKO Cosmétiques released L’ Élixir de Manuka few months ago and they kindly gifted this serum to me knowing it would be very well appreciated by a green beauty enthusiast who’s constantly struggling with oily and problematic skin.
L’ Élixir de Manuka is an advanced reparative serum specifically designed for acne-prone skin types. The formula is rich, oil-based serum with active botanicals that hydrate, balance, reduce inflammation, and clear congested skin.
Seabuckthorn oil gives this serum a vibrant orange hue. One of the star ingredients, that I was personally quite impressed by, is the Manuka active concentrate that’s a highly powerful ingredient in treating acne and acne spots.
Apart from that, L’ Élixir de Manuka contains an innovative blend of anti-inflammatory ingredients such as black cumin, seabuckthorn oils, natural salicylic acid found in willow bark, ceramides, and extracts of helichrysum, lavender, petit grain and Manuka that work together to reduce breakouts and fade away acne scars.
L’ Élixir de Manuka also contains an active blend of high-performing antioxidants with vitamin A, E, C, and bakuchiol that help in improving the appearance of uneven skin tone, brighten dull complexions, and strengthen skin’s defenses against the harmful effects of the environment.
MY EXPERIENCE WITH L’ÉLIXIR DE MANUKA
Honestly, I prefer aloe or water based serums over oil-based serums because my oily skin responds well to them. But of late, I’ve discovered such wonderful oil-based products that are gradually changing my perception and preference.
When OKOKO Cosmétiques releases a new product, it ought to be special. Oyéta Kokoroko (the lovely and talented founder) doesn’t just create beautiful products, she makes sure that each product stands out in terms of its efficacy and performance and excels in customers’ expectations. And personally, after having tried almost the entire OKOKO skincare line, I can proudly attest to that.
L’Élixir de Manuka is a lightweight serum that contains chock-full of efficacious ingredients. Though it is an oil-based serum, it doesn’t feel greasy or tacky.
When I first tried L’ Élixir de Manuka, I felt it left a slight yellowish tint on my skin. So I reached out to Oyéta and she guided me to reduce the drops of serum I was applying. Apparently, the excess wasn’t getting absorbed. L’Élixir de Manuka doesn’t contain any artificial color; it gets its bright orange hue due to the seabuckthorn oil present in the formula. L’Élixir de Manuka is a potent serum and 2-3 drops are sufficient for the entire face and neck. Once I followed her advice, the serum worked perfectly fine and the slight yellowish tint would dissipate within few minutes.
When I started testing L’ Élixir de Manuka, my skin wasn’t in its best state. I had several breakouts on my cheeks and few on my forehead. I began religiously applying L’ Élixir de Manuka in the morning and sometimes in the evening as a spot treatment. I loved it. Then I experimented and created a wonderful skincare cocktail. I mixed a little Earthwise Beauty Resiliency face serum with couple of drops of the Manuka serum and created a creamy emulsion, which I simply love now.
The healing process of acne is generally quite sluggish on my skin and takes several weeks to months before it entirely goes away. With the combo of
Manuka and Resiliency, I witnessed an acceleration in the healing process of the active breakouts. There were in fact few bumps on my forehead that were just gone the subsequent day.
What makes L’Élixir de Manuka so unique and effective is the meticulous selection of ingredients, their amalgamation and synergy of active and potent botanical ingredients. Black cumin oil, seabuckthorn oil, oil-soluble willow bark extract (natural salicylic acid), and bakuchiol are some of the key ingredients that I was very glad to find in one product.
