Happy Holidays! Today I’m talking about the current set of cleansers I have in my stash and a detailed review about each one of them. I have categorized them under two categories based upon their performance and efficacy.
I was quite intrigued to try Elyse Marie Botanicals products and when they approached me to try out their couple of products, I was quite elated. After trying their face wash for more than a month, I can proclaim that Elyse Marie Botanicals N°33 Restore Face is by far the best non-foaming cleanser I have tried so far. And trust me when I say this, I have tried quite a lot of cleansers to date.
What really impresses me about this cleanser? It’s made with only 5 simple ingredients, yet it’s such an effective cleanser. Every time I use it, my skin feels so refreshed and revitalized.
This natural facial cleanser is completely free of harsh chemicals, parabens, sulfates, and all other extremely toxic ingredients. Restore Face is a gentle cleanser that is suitable for all skin types. It has a milky consistency and it smells absolutely wonderful. It’s my favorite morning cleanser and I reach for it almost every day in the morning.
I really love honey-based skincare products; and this moisturizing cleanser is enriched with Manuka 20+ honey (which is known for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties).
OY-L face wash is a non-foaming, beautiful caramel colored cleanser that feels quite moisturizing and nourishing to the skin. I really like it in the morning as the first cleanse. Texture wise it’s quite runny and has a subtle lovely fragrance. I feel it’s a perfect blend of honey and oil that needs a quick shake before each use.
After using and loving Siam Seas Morning Delight cleansing oil, I was quite delighted to try You Skincare Cleansing Oil.
Restore Cleansing Oil is packed with oils containing phytosterols that are rich in antioxidants and it deeply cleanses the skin, removing makeup, oil, and environment debris. Restore cleansing oil looks like a dewy translucent oil that’s runny in texture. It has a very faint citrusy smell quite similar to their Barrier Repair cleansing balm; but it’s even fainter than the cleansing balm. What I really like about Restore is that it rinses clean with water, leaving a clean and a healthy skin.
I’m a self-proclaimed cleansing balm lover but ever since I have started using the Restore Cleansing oil, I prefer it over their Barrier Repair Cleansing balm. And since the entire YOU skincare is formulated for oily and problematic skin types, I don’t really need to worry about any breakouts with this cleansing oil.
Juice Beauty Green Apple Brightening Gel cleanser was a part of the Petit Vour November 2017 Beauty box. I had quite a few cleansers back then, so I had to keep this one aside; and I started using it only recently. It’s my first product from this range. The Green apple brightening gel cleanser is made with antioxidant rich and purifying organic botanical juices, sugar cane hydroxy-acids and plant-based cleansers that exfoliate and deeply cleanse the skin. It’s designed for all skin types (except sensitive skin) and is effective for helping dark spots, discoloration, and uneven skin tone and texture.
The Green apple brightening gel cleanser is a gentle gel cleanser that lathers mildly and doesn’t strip or dry the skin. It has a thick transparent gel sort of texture with subtle citrusy fragrance. It’s a decent facial cleanser that does the job. In terms of results, I have not witnessed any skin improvement with this cleanser.
MOSS BEURRE CELESTÉ HONEY ANTIOXIDANT INFUSION RECOVERY MASK IN CLEANSING BAUME
I have reviewed Moss Skincare’s Beurre Celesté so many times and that’s because it’s such a great product. A true multi-tasker and one of my favorite cleansing balms!
What’s so great about Beurre Celeste? Beurre Celesté offers the benefits of an oil cleanser, cleansing balm, raw honey cleanser and hydrating mask all in one! I love everything about this multi-tasking mask/cleansing balm! I have used it as a cleanser as well as a mask! It removes makeup, grime, and impurities effortlessly and thoroughly. It emulsifies in contact with water and rinses clean without leaving any oily or waxy residue. Every time I open the jar, I love sniffing off the sweet aroma of honey that reminds me of a chocolate I used to relish as a kid.
Let’s talk about ingredients! Beurre Celesté has an amazing and highly-effective set of key ingredients like raw nebraska honey, sunflower oil, macademia oil, kokum butter, and seabuckthorn CO2 extract. It’s targeted to offer gentle exfoliation, smoothing and brightening effect to the skin. Beurre Celesté has a marvelous texture for lymphatic drainage and its beautiful soft grainy texture feels like melted butter on the skin. Every time I use it, my skin feels so soft and smooth. I have noticed a lot of improvement in my skin texture as well.
In terms of efficacy and performance, I think it’s on par with my HG cleansing balm – Mahalo The Unveil cleanser. But there’s only one drawback with Beurre Celesté – it tingles my eyes; so I cannot remove my eye makeup using this. Rest everything about this versatile product is just perfect!
You don’t see me much talking about this cleanser but it’s not because I don’t like it. It’s actually because Jordan Samuel Skin’s The After-Show cleanser sits pretty on my bathroom rack and I use it almost every other day as a morning cleanser.
This unique gel to oil formula is packed with olive, jojoba, and grape seed oils to remove every trace of makeup, while sugarcane, apple and willow bark extracts offer gentle exfoliation and hydration.
I have used this cleanser both in the morning as well as in the evening. What I particularly love about this cleanser is how gentle it feels on my skin, yet it can easily remove every bit of makeup without much effort. Plus it has a delightful faint fragrance that uplifts my mood. It doesn’t irritate my eyes at all and doesn’t strip or dry my skin; in fact, it feels quite nourishing and hydrating. When mixed with water, this cleanser turns milky and rinses off easily leaving a well-hydrated and a clean soft skin. Most of the days when I’m tired, this is my go-to cleanser.
The only problem I face with this cleanser is that I feel lazy to use a (warm wet) washcloth to remove my makeup. So I end up using my rinsable cleansing balms for taking off my makeup. And I reach for the After-Show in the morning when I’m looking for gentler cleansing options.
I absolutely love exploring rinsable cleansing balms and the You Skincare Barrier Repair Cleansing Balm was a wonderful addition to my cleansing balm collection. Barrier Repair is a balancing fatty profile blend, loaded with antioxidants and phytonutrient botanical oils. The combination of oils – rice bran oil, papaya seed oil, watermelon seed oil, and baobab seed oil – in this balm not only moisturize and pamper while they cleanse; but are also targeted at brightening the complexion with consistent use.
This luxurious faintly citrus-smelling balm slightly emulsifies and delivers a soft and smooth skin. I love its vibrant sunny color and the way it easily glides on my skin. My favorite ritual is to massage it into my skin for a few minutes before I rinse it off. I have also used it to remove makeup and it does the job perfectly well. But I feel Barrier Repair doesn’t rinse as clean as Moss skincare Beurre Celeste or Mahalo The Unveil cleanser. It leaves a moisturizing layer on my skin. Having said that, it could also be because I have an extremely oily skin. In my opinion, I feel it would be more suitable for dry skin types.
