Here’s the second part of the review of my hair and body care products that I have been using for the past few months. The blog post on my current hair and body care products is available in two parts. (You can read the first part of this blog here.)
Living Libations Blue Spirulina Shampoo
I had always come across raving reviews of Living Libations hair care and skincare products. So when I was looking for a good shampoo during my vacation in the US, I ordered samples of Living Libations shampoo from The Green Jungle Beauty Shop. After checking few online retailers, I found this Canada based online store to be really amazing. They offer samples of all products available on their website along with really affordable shipping charges.
Coming back to the shampoo – The LL Blue Spirulina Shampoo is formulated for dry and itchy scalp and tired, lackluster hair. It is infused with a tremendous trifecta of azulene-containing essential oils: blue tansy, yarrow, and German chamomile. The ingredients of this shampoo are pretty clean and what’s really amazing about Living Libations shampoo is that they are suitable for all hair types, including children’s hair and colored hair too. (I had ordered their Seabuckthorn shampoo too but that one was for my mother. As I didn’t get to use it, I’ll not be reviewing it here.)
Texture wise – The LL Blue Spirulina shampoo is a not-so-thick-not-so-runny green colored shampoo targeted for problematic scalp. It lathers pretty well but if I had to compare it with the Siam Seas The Clarifier shampoo; I would say this one doesn’t lather as much as the Siam Seas one. The Blue Spirulina shampoo effectively helps in keeping dandruff at bay and cleans the scalp and hair too. And it makes my hair look healthy with decent volume. But I couldn’t go without conditioning my hair as I felt it made my hair slightly dry and entangled toward the ends.
I certainly enjoy alternating this shampoo with the Siam Seas one; but there are two prime reasons as to why I would prefer Siam Seas shampoo over this.
Living Libations Honey Myrtle Deep Conditioning Mask
While searching for reviews of their shampoo, I came across Nadine’s (the founder of Living Libations) video on the Living Libations website. And it made me really intrigued to try this hair mask. But going by my past experiences where hair masks have weighed down my fine hair, I didn’t want to indulge in a full size. So I went for a sample size of this hair mask when I placed the order for the shampoos.
LL Honey Myrtle Deep Conditioning Mask is a thick and rich, and most luxurious happy-hair care product offered by this brand. Heavenly scented and carefully crafted with pure, organic, wild-harvested herbs, essential oils, aloe, and emollient oils, this rinse-out or leave-in conditioning mask is soothing for dry hair, dry scalp, damaged and over-processed hair. It can be applied either as a quick conditioner after shampooing or as a leave-on hair mask left on for 15 minutes covered with a shower cap or towel or left overnight.
Honey Myrtle Deep Conditioning mask has a thick greenish creamy texture that looks like a mint cheese dip to me. Hahaha! The mask is quite easy to apply on the scalp and in the hair. I have applied it half an hour prior to my shower and have left it overnight too. In both ways, I’ve had mixed feelings about this hair mask. While I loved how soft and smooth my hair felt after using it, I could also see that it was weighing down my fine hair and it looked a little flat at the roots. I experienced more than usual hair-fall too. So I think this hair mask would be great for thick hair types with lot of volume.
Sigil Scent Body Scrub
Sigil Scent Body Scrub is a plant-based exfoliating formula made with certified organic and non-GMO ingredients to effortlessly smooth away dull, dead cells. It claims to leave the skin soft, supple, and glowing. A 100% organic aroma blend uplifts and attunes with vetiver, cumin, palmarosa, geranium, and lime. It’s formulated without phthalates, parabens, mineral oil, synthetic fragrance, propylene glycol.
I was quite lucky to win this Body Scrub in a giveaway organized by Sigil Scent on one of their social media platform accounts. The body scrub comes in a huge jar of 8.4oz (238 gms) with its own wooden spoon. I like the thoughtfulness of the packaging. The formula separates naturally and it’s recommended to stir the body scrub prior to use to distribute the oils throughout the formula. So a wooden spoon really comes handy. The texture of the body scrub looks like coarse granular sugar beads that appear hard. But when you apply it to the damp skin, it emulsifies into a soft milky exfoliating grain that doesn’t feel hard on the skin one bit. It leaves my skin absolutely soft, smooth, and supple. For extra exfoliation, it can be used on dry skin but in my experience it was too harsh for my skin. However on damp skin, it works miraculously wonderful. And it smells heavenly; the aroma feels citrusy and pretty invigorating!
