Dafna’s Personal Skincare is a Spanish (natural) skincare brand, founded by Dafna in 2008. Dafna’s products are much more than just a cosmetic product; it is a rite, a feeling, a true wellness experience inside and out. In 2014, Dafna launched her anti-ageing line in collaboration with accomplished scientists. Her anti-ageing line based on the Ayurvedic philosophy, with natural and bio active ingredients and highly advanced biotechnology. This line of products, DR2, is designed to have beneficial effects on the skin and wellbeing.
The standout for me is that Dafna’s natural products are based on Ayurveda philosophy and are formulated by combining high concentrations of 40 active ingredients (11-25 actives per product), which include essential oils and botanical extracts with advances in biotechnology that together bring visible results to your skin. Due to ingredients being at a low molecular weight, they make formulas more effective. Created to work synergestically, they aim to fight early signs of ageing and accumulated damage to cells caused by free radicals, skin dehydration and intrinsic oxidative stress, to which most of us are exposed daily, irrespective of seasons or places where we live. So far I have used 4 products from Dafna’s skincare range and I’ll review each of them in detail here:
Dafna’s Eye Care was the first product I tried from this range. I had received Dafna’s Eye Care as a part of the Boxwalla’s December beauty box. In fact, it was my first eye care product and I was a complete non-believer of eye care products until then. (If you wish to read my first detailed review of the Dafna’s Eye Care, click here.)
As it’s synonymous with most eye care products, Dafna’s Eye Care comes in a small 20ml size. But don’t worry, this small bottle will last you for at least a year. You only need a pea size to work around the eyes. I have been using it for the last 8 months (not regularly though) and it’s still not over. The texture of the Eye Care is more like a thick translucent gel (almost whitish in color), which is completely non-greasy and non-oily. I really like that about eye care products. What makes it so effective, is the instant cooling, refreshing, and hydrating effect that the Eye Care offers. I also experience instant skin tightening effect. No wonder it’s an award winning under-eye treatment product!
I’m particularly drawn toward it after a long, tiring and an exhausting day; or on days when my sleep time is disrupted. It has really helped with puffiness around my eye areas, and dark circles. The reason why this formula is so effective is because it includes 16 potent actives such as the Chicory root oligosaccharides and hydrolyzed Soy protein, which enhance production of collagen and synthesis. It’s also enriched with Rosehip oil that reduce the appearance of fine lines and Calendula extract, which reduces puffiness around the eyes area.
This eye care product is definitely a keeper!
Serum Anti-aging & Glow
Even before I start writing anything about this serum – “I love it!” You really need to use it just once to experience how silky, soft and radiant your skin will look the next day. I am very impressed. This serum is predominantly formulated to offer the most advanced solutions to combat skin aging processes. It includes 11 actives such as, Rosehip and Olive oils that highly nourish and soften the skin. Akin to the Eye Care, this serum includes Chicory root oligosaccharides that increase collagen production and synthesis, resulting in immediate tightening effect on your skin as well as Hyaluronic Acid which helps to maintain high hydration levels.
The serum has a white milky texture, which is again non-greasy and non-oily. I really like Dafna’s formulations specifically for this reason. None of her products feel sticky, oily or tacky on my skin. In fact my skin progressively looks plump, soft, and glowy with regular use. Most of the treatment products need to be used at night (and not daily), so I love these serums that can be used during the day as well as night. In terms of anti-aging effect, I didn’t witness much; particularly because I don’t have any visible fine lines or wrinkles that I need to address. But I did feel the instant tightening effect after using this serum. Perhaps, mature skin types might benefit more from this serum. One thing I noticed recently, this serum doesn’t layer well with certain face oils and starts pilling. So I try to avoid following it up with those products.
Moisture + Light
Generally moisturizers feel heavy on my oily skin and they leave a greasy feeling after. But not this one! Dafna’s Moisture + Light seems to be crafted specifically for oilier and sensitive skin types. It absorbs quickly and leaves my skin non-greasy and non-oily. Moisture+Light includes 19 hydrating and renewing ingredients as Hyaluronic Acid and Argan oil and fresh and calming extracts of Calendula and figs. Neroli and Rosemary essential oils uplift the spirit and provide skin with special glow. Texture wise – Moisture+Light has a similar texture as that of the Anti-aging serum.
REVIVAL Bio-Active Beauty Mask
REVIVAL is quite a unique facial mask! Formulated with a unique combination of bio-active ingredients such as Capsulated Charcoal, Hyaluronic Acid, Ginseng and Reishi, this mask transforms the skin, bringing back its vitality. Skin becomes remarkably soft, radiant, hydrated and recovered from daily stressful agents such as free radicals.
REVIVAL mask is based on two bio-active phases:- The first one provides skin with intensive hydration by low-weight molecules hyaluronic acid, combined with energizing, regenerating skin cells of Ginseng and Reishi. The second phase activates the capsulated Charcoal, originated from Coco, which effectively “magnetizes” free radicals at the surface of the skin, inhibiting skin oxidation while promoting balanced complexion and even look.
The mask, interestingly, looks like mashed dragon fruit to me! REVIVAL has a very soft touch and feel to it and glides on the skin just like butter. I was pretty intrigued to try it! Especially the two bio-active phases of this mask made to even more appealing. The first phase of applying this mask includes carefully tap masking it on the dry skin, without crushing the black colored charcoal capsules. However, the second phase is where the action happens! With damp fingers, you need to massage the mask for about a minute, until all the charcoal capsules are merged to the mask and it changes the color to grey. This is the first charcoal mask that does not dry or irritate my skin one bit!
REVIVAL is a luxurious mask that offers the experience of a facial spa at home. I am always in awe of how soft, clearer and brighter my skin looks after I use this mask. Personally, I love the twofold approach of this mask: one where the bio-actives in the mask work toward nourishing and transforming the skin; and second where the manual massage encourages a good blood circulation to the skin.
