I firmly believe in self-care and as a skincare enthusiast, my ideal “me” time includes indulging in my skincare ritual every day! But the favorite part of my skincare ritual is to relax with a decadent face mask and enjoy my favorite herbal tea (yeah I’m a T-EA person)! It’s my perfect way of unwinding and calming down after a hectic and a tiring day. Not just that, I enjoy face masks because they offer the most amazing and instant skin glow one can ask for!
As a face mask lover I love trying new face masks and own quite a few of them. Personally, I love them all for the skincare benefits they offer; but today I’m dishing on my top three face masks for acne-prone skin. Why are they best? – Because these powerhouse masks contain the most potent and powerful ingredients; and have surpassed my expectations on more than one occasion.
As per my selection, the top 3 face masks are:
Mahalo The Petal Mask (the Hydrating treatment)
[I’ve already reviewed the Mahalo masks in detail (click here to read the detailed review of Mahalo products); so I’ll keep my review concise here.]
The Petal Mask is beautifully pale pink in color (resembling the rose petal color) and has a distinct gel-like texture. Even the aroma of this decadent mask is predominantly floral (evoking memories of strolling in my grandmother’s rose garden) and quite uplifting!
The Petal mask is a luxuriously-gentle beta-hydroxy treatment mask formulated to provide deep hydration and improved texture for a glowing, plump complexion. It consists of 28 active ingredients with active enzymes, mineral-rich Amazonian white clay, rose hydrosol, raw honey, and hyaluronic acid – a synergy of which offers a sophisticated blend delivering intense hydration.
The mask is quite easy to apply and doesn’t dry off entirely; so it comes off quite easily with lukewarm water. For me, the standouts include the instant glow and hydration this mask offers. I also feel it tightens my skin a bit and makes it look quite plump and glowy that stays for the next few days! The Petal comes in a generous 100ml jar and depending upon your usage will last for about 4-6 months. However, in my case, it lasted a bit longer because I keep it in rotation with my other face masks.
The remarkable key ingredients of this mask are:
Raw Honey – rich in therapeutic enzymes and antioxidants to enhance youthful glow. Balances skin pH level, and deeply moisturizes and soothes the skin with its unique antibacterial components. A true skin healing miracle.
Hyaluronic Acid – holds 1,000x its weight in water. Low molecular sodium hyaluronate penetrates deep into the skin to help in retaining moisture and provide serious and hydration that lasts and lasts.
Rose hydrosol – has potent aromatherapeutic and skin benefits. Known to calm the nervous system and fight symptoms of anxiety and depression, rose acts as a bactericide, healing the skin, reducing acne and inflammation.
Camellia oil – is highly emollient, rich in antioxidant polyphenols, Omega 3, 6 and 9, as well as vitamins A, B, D and E.
Willow – the beta-hydroxy willow extract helps to gently exfoliate and clean the pores from the inside, removing build-up of oil, pollutants, sweat, dirt, blood and other toxins. Nature’s salicylic acid, it exfoliates without irritation or sensitivity.
Mahalo The BEAN (Antioxidant Mask)
Mahalo The BEAN mask is an ultra-concentrated epicurean facial treatment that awakens and revives skin and spirit akin to the morning coffee after a long week. The succulent bean marriage of cacao, vanilla and coffee is enveloped in sweet enzymes of raw Hawaiian honey to further entwine with plytonutrient plant botanicals, and precious extracts that are fortified by “secret weapon” antioxidants.
The Bean definitely delivers one of the best and potent union of antioxidant actives that work brilliantly to detoxify and support skin’s healing abilities. It contains gentle exfoliation grains from Moroccan clay that help in exfoliating dead skin revealing clearer, smoother, and baby soft skin. On many occasions, it has helped in rapid healing of active acne on my face. I am also pleasantly surprised by how hydrating this mask is! Oh and did I mention the decadent aroma of coffee and cacao (with notes of honey, vanilla, patachouli, and ylang ylang) that will instantly revive your skin and spirits alike.
Some of the key ingredients of this mask are:
Cacao: this antioxidant-rich raw superfood is bursting with vitamins, minerals, raw enzymes and omega fatty acids that help in preventing free radical damage that cause premature aging and inflammation. It promotes circulation, and increase cellular healing resulting in a toned, bright and youthful complexion.
Astaxanthin: the powerhouse “secret weapon” ingredient of The BEAN mask. This powerhouse ingredient provides new dimension in skin treatment technology, effectively working to revitalize dull, tired, prematurely-aging and environmentally stressed skin.
Green Coffee Bean Oil + Coffee Co2: the “secret weapon sidekicks” of the BEAN mask that work in synergy to help tone, firm and rejuvenate the skin.
Lilfox Jungle Glow
I was introduced to Lilfox Jungle Glow by Beauty Heroes last year, April, as the Hero product of the month in their monthly Discovery beauty box. And I instantly fell in love with this wonderful honey-based mask. Jungle Glow is not simply a mask; it’s actually a multitasking product that can be used as a cleanser, exfoliator, and a treatment mask. This beautiful concoction of natural honey enzymes from Hawaii Rainforest and raw cacao, organic rosehip oil, and maracuja oil contains the most mesmerizing aroma and gently exfoliates the skin, stimulates circulation revealing an instant glowing complexion.
Luminizing enzyme cleanser + mask with raw rainforest honey from Hawaii. A silky melange of organic raw cacao and gentle white clay with skin plumping maracuja + rosehip oils. Enzymes in honey cleanse and gently slough off dead skin cells while clay and raw cacoa stimulate circulation to reveal a clear glowy complexion. If massaged into skin, finely ground roship seeds provide the most gentle manual exfoliation to revitalize dull congested skin. Vitamin C rich neroli and pink grapefruit harmoniously mingle with rainforest honey for an intoxicating aromatic beauty ritual.
I love honey-based face masks. Raw honey is hydrating, and skin plumping. They are rich in healing enzymes and antimicrobial that prevent future skin issues. What’s special about Jungle Glow is that it contains raw honey direct from a loving bee-keeper in Hawaii who collects this honey from bees that forage the Hawaiian Rainforests. But what I really love about Jungle Glow is that it offers multifaceted skincare benefits. It not only heals and repairs my skin, its gentle exfoliation makes my skin baby soft skin and smooth. Plus not to mention its olfactory treat – Jungle Glow’s fragrance is absolutely intoxicating!
Have you tried any of these masks?
