The timing of the Beauty Heroes April box couldn’t have been better. With the climate getting hotter and humid, I was just looking for a serum that would be perfect for my oily acne-prone skin.
This month Beauty Heroes delivers an amazing antioxidant serum – Intense Nurture Antioxidant Elixir (full size – 30ml) – with chock-full of complex high-performing ingredients by one of my favorite brands De Mamiel. The sidekick is another raved product that I have been eyeing for a long time – Exhale Hydrating Nectar (travel size – 5ml).
The total value of this month’s beauty box is $147.
The Hero Product
Well, where do I start? Okay, the first thing worth noticing and appreciating is the marvelous packaging of De Mamiel products. And if you’re like me, you will definitely store it as a keepsake! The box design is pretty chic and elegant. It’s evidently one of the most luxurious and thoughtfully designed brand packaging I have come across in the green beauty industry.
The moment I opened the box I was greeted with a mesmerizing faint smell of the serum that was reminiscent of the fresh floral and herbal fragrance you typically come across at Indian temples. (Thanks to lavender stem and leaf, jasmine, wild rose, vetiver and patchouli that are blended into a base of organic, rare prickly pear seed oil and skin plumping ceramide 3 for a subtly fragrant serum!) Well, my husband complimented on that too! The smell is pretty faint and subtle; and almost non-existent after you apply it. So it’s not overpowering at all!
Now about the texture and how it fares on my skin! This antioxidant serum is white in color and has a milky texture. The look of the serum reminds me of Honua Aloha Youth Serum (which is a staple in my skincare routine now). For my entire face and neck, I just need 3-4 drops. The serum is pretty viscous; but it’s so hydrating, refreshing, and calming for my skin; and doesn’t leave any greasy residue at all. In fact, I feel it gives just the right amount of hydration my oily skin needs in this hot climate.
What’s particularly intriguing about this serum is the innovative list of ingredients with which it is formulated to fend off sensations of environmental and emotional stress, and give a replenished look to skin. Sodium hyaluronate is infused with ferulic acid and superoxide dismutase to form a breathable protection. Malachite extract and quercetin, are known to extract impurities and repair damaged skin; and when combined with marine samphire, it helps in increasing cell renewal and oxygen levels to smooth and even skin tone.
Well, this serum is certainly packed with powerful antioxidants that nurture and protect the skin. And most importantly, it’s perfect for my skin in this sultry climate. I think this serum will definitely benefit all skin types; however, extremely dry skin may need to follow it up with an oil based serum/moisturizer.
Shall we talk about the interesting Sidekick now?
Okay so the sidekick is a travel size (5ml) tinted SPF 30 Exhale Daily Hydrating Nectar that was on my wishlist for a long time. It’s a lightly tinted moisturizer that gives a sheer coverage and a lovely dewy glow. It doesn’t conceal any imperfections, spots or redness on the face… just blurs them out revealing a soft-focus glow. This beautiful concoction of botanical complex is ultra lightweight and easily blendable; but most importantly, it doesn’t clog my pores and allows my skin to breathe. Exhale Hydrating Nectar feels so refreshing and light on the skin; and for my skin that gets pretty oily as the climate turns hot and humid, it feels really calming and soothing!
De Mamiel’s Exhale Daily Hydrating Nectar is a next-level moisturizer featuring a botanical complex that blends lightweight ingredients, high-performance antioxidants, mineral UV, A & B protection and essential oil to give skin a repaired, hydrated, and glowing look, with an appearance of soft-focus and subtle sheen. Avocado, Raspberry Seed oil, Prickly Pear seed oil, Quercetin and Tocopherol breathe a feeling of life back into lackluster skin.
The ingredients’ list is pretty robust (just like the Intense Nurture Antioxidant serum); but the main ones that lend these amazing qualities to this botanical complex nectar are Avocado extract, Raspberry Seed oil, Prickly Pear seed oil, Quercetin, Tocopherol and natural mineral UV filter of Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide, that protects from both UV A and B rays.
Wrapping up!
I have been really enjoying this combo. I have been consistently using the Intense Nurture Antioxidant Elixir, followed by the Exhale Hydrating Nectar (during the day). I’m definitely very pleased with both products and now, I’m pretty certain I’ll purchase a full-size of the tinted SPF (because that’s exactly the type of tinted moisturizer with SPF benefits that I was looking for).
