There are plenty of natural homemade hair treatments available on the web. And like any natural beauty enthusiast, I’ve tried a good deal of treatments for my skin and hair. Today, I’m dishing on my favorite hair treatments that are not just efficacious but require only TWO core ingredients. Yeah, you read it right, just two ingredients! These hair treatments have been a real game-changer for my scalp and hair conditions.
For those of you who don’t know, I have fine and limp hair, which often looks (or rather looked) dry and dull. So after trying several homemade hair treatments, I realized two things – I needed simple hair treatment recipes that would be easy to prepare because with a small child at home, I couldn’t devote lot of time finding the ingredients or even preparing them; and secondly, I needed to look for ingredients that were readily available.
Olive Oil and Egg Hair Treatment
Two simple ingredients that are easily available and are a staple in our kitchen – olive oil and eggs. They make a great and effective hair mask for dry looking fine hair.
To make a mask for dry hair, you only need the yolk, not the white. Egg yolks contain fat and protein that help moisturize dry and lifeless hair. However, if you have oily scalp, use only the whites in your mask. Egg whites gently remove unwanted oils from your hair, leaving it shiny and soft.
How to prepare: Whisk the egg/s and the olive oil to make a smooth and creamy mixture. Apply it to the roots and to the hair; and let it sit on your head for roughly around 15-20 minutes. Then rinse it with cold water and follow it up with a mild shampoo.
I treat my hair regularly with this mask (frequency – once or twice in a week) and I have to admit my hair looks much healthier and shinier these days. It has also become very soft and quite manageable! Try it out! You will be amazed with its result.
Yogurt and Honey Hair Treatment
I alternate this hair mask with olive oil and egg hair mask. Honey and yogurt carry a horde of benefits. They are a staple in my skincare and haircare recipes. Obviously, to witness their benefits, you need to use them regularly.
Yogurt is packed with protein, and nourishes your hair to grow strong and healthy. Yogurt cleanses the scalp and clears out dead skin cells to make your hair follicles grow!
Why I like it? Because of its amazing moisturizing properties! It makes a great natural conditioner to soften and tame hair frizz. It is quite beneficial in treating my dry and fine hair. Moreover, yogurt has anti-fungal properties that help fight dandruff.
Honey has antibacterial and antiseptic properties, which help in keeping the scalp clean and bacteria-free. As honey is an emollient, it also improves the health of the hair follicles. It helps in making scalp healthy and stimulate hair growth.
Why I like it? Honey is a natural hair softener and a great hair conditioner. Along with yogurt, this makes my scalp clean and healthy.
I let this hair mask sit on my head for about 20 minutes and then wash it off with a mild shampoo. Result: My hair looks so healthy, soft, and shiny! I love how well my hair behaves and sets after this hair treatment.
