You might find it hard to believe that my friends and relatives had many times recommended me to start my blogging website. I would just laugh it out then and never take them seriously! Why? Because after working for 10-12 hours a day as an Instructional Designer, I just didn’t want to be anywhere close to the laptop. In retrospect, it seems like I never actually felt so strongly passionate about anything except for my love for writing (that’s probably the driving force of this blog).
It was never a strategic move to start my blogging website. In fact, if you would have asked me about blogging few months ago, I would have been as confused as any other person who hasn’t explored the “B” of blogging. Having said that, I don’t want to pretend that I’m a pro either. It’s just a starting point of something I’m deeply passionate about. It seems this time my heart and mind are in perfect sync; and things are gradually falling in place.
Life was quite a mad run of events before my daughter, Kiara, blessed us with her presence in our life. I had to take a backseat from my life’s marathon run and embrace motherhood in entirety. I’ll not deny, in the beginning, it was difficult – in fact very difficult – to not be occupied with professional work and to be in such a demanding role 24×7. But deep down, I was actually enjoying the sabbatical from work. Watching my little one grow and learn simplest of things with each passing moment; the sparkle in those tiny bright eyes; the joy and fun of exploring, it’s just amazing to witness life from a baby’s point of view. I wanted to capture it all…and I still do! I still cannot believe my little Kiara will turn 5 in couple of months.
Ahem…I digress…! Coming back to what has inspired me to blog — it is a no-brainer for people who already follow me on Instagram. But those of you who don’t, let me fill you in. So I started my Instagram account little over a year ago with no idea of what an amazing journey I was going to embark. I was never much into skincare or beauty products, let alone “natural” or “organic.” Being in India, where we are mostly lured into the glamorous world of conventional beauty products, I had no knowledge of how rapidly “natural beauty products” were emerging and making their mark in the beauty industry. (The trend and knowledge of natural beauty products in India is still at a very nascent stage but it’s definitely trending.)
After almost couple of months into it, when I started making acquaintances and following few friends, I came across some amazing green beauty brands. The word “green beauty” and what it meant piqued my interest. Apart from promoting their handcrafted products, these green beauty brands had also taken the onus of sharing some startling facts about toxic conventional beauty products and how they affect our health in the long run. Several cases of life-threatening diseases like cancer were linked to the chemicals employed in making cosmetics and skincare products that we carelessly use in our day-to-day life. Right until that point in my life, I was a blind customer and a herd follower too. But after learning such alarming facts, I couldn’t turn a blind eye. I realized that all my beauty products, haircare products, and bodycare products carried “n” number of chemicals and toxic agents. Some of them were so complex that I couldn’t even decipher why were they even part of products that we use on our precious faces! From there on, began my quest to gradually replace all my conventional skincare, haircare, and beauty products with organic and natural ones. I gleaned through lot of information and over the course of subsequent few months, I fervently began talking about green beauty products with my friends and family. The initial inquisitiveness turned into a passion, which involved exploring some amazing green beauty brands and products. Along the way, I got several opportunities to share my ideas and opinions on the products I used. The more I became a part of this community, the more I felt deeply connected. This “connection” – the passion and the fascination – that I feel has inspired me to start ‘greenchicgirl.com’ and share my love with all of you.
Hope you’ll all be a part of it and share your opinion and ideas with me!
